14 Blades (錦衣衛 Gam yee wai 2010) and 4 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Be Too Excited About It.

14 Blades wasn't a really good movie. Don't be fooled by the title. It is not a story about the 14 blades and its nifty contraptions that Donnie Yen's Qing Long carries in a big box on his back. We are told that each blades has its own names and uniqueness but sadly not seeing all of them in action.

Sad to say that it was only passable with Donnie Yen's presence and Qi Yuwu's performance in it. Even Sammo Hung looks like a fish (more like a bear actually) out of the water with his cameo. For once, split him away from Donnie Yen unless they are in a gay relationship.

Kate Tsui needs to lose the clothings, push-up the boobs, and stop the annoying shrieking during the fight. A guy who is near his fifties has a bigger chest than hers. What a shame. Vicky Zhao isn't all bad but I would prefer not to see too much of a romance and her big teary eyes.

There is nothing spectacular about this movie. Not the fight scenes, not the plot, not Wu Zhun. Probably the most valuable thing that you can learn is a quick snapshot on the history of the Jin Yi Wei during the Ming Dynasty.
